Atmospheric
Pressure Laser Ionization - APLI
APLI was introduced 2005 by the two research groups standing behind iGenTraX
– the Departments of Physical and Theoretical and the Department of
Analytical Chemistry at the University of Wuppertal, Germany.
The performance of APLI for analysis of non-polar polycyclic aromatics (PAH)
is unmatched,
e.g. for GC-APLI-TOF(MS) 4
atto mole
Chrysene
on column or 1.7 pM.
Primarily designed for the ultra-trace analysis of PAH or molecular
structures containing such units (example here) we have recently
paved the road for the wide application of APLI analysis by selective
tagging of more polar compounds with appropriate APLI labels.
